181st International Instructor Course (IIC) Italy

Arch Combat Academy – Wembley Park Taekwon-Do took part in the 181st International Instructor Course (IIC) in Sardinia, led by GM Héctor Marano, GM Ung Kim Lan, and Master Virginia Dionisi. The event was organised by the Federazione Italiana Taekwon-Do (FITAE). It was an extreme pleasure to attend, both for the quality of the 3-day course and for the opportunity to reconnect with so many of my Italian Taekwon-Do friends with whom I have shared so much in the past.

ETA Squad Session

Date: Saturday 7th September 2024

Location: George Green’s School, London

The Fourth ETA (England Taekwon-Do Association) Squad Session of the year took place in Docklands, London, and saw a great turnout from ETA members and friends. The main focus of the session was sparring, with those undergoing the ETA grading at the end of September having the opportunity to go through the syllabus with Master Denis. All proceeds from the session are being donated to a colleague whose wife is going through a difficult time and needs support.

Seminar with GM Jedut

I had the privilege of attending a seminar led by Jerzy Jedut, a member of the ITF Technical Committee and recently promoted to the level of GM IX Dan. The session lasted for 6 hours and was divided into two segments: technical training and patterns in the morning, followed by sparring techniques in the afternoon.

Impact Open Championships

Location: Dolphin Leisure Centre, Haywards Heath

We are pleased to share that we obtained solid results at the Impact Open Championship on 30th June. We extend our congratulations to Caitlin Kelly for her commendable performance, securing a gold medal in the Power Techniques division White to Green Belt. Additionally, Caitlin performed really well in both Patterns and Sparring.

As the Technical Director, I took an active role in the discussions, contributing to the deliberations on pivotal decisions affecting the ETA’s operations and growth.

Open Welsh Championships

Date: Saturday 22nd June 2024

Location: Cardiff City House of Sport, Cardiff

We are thrilled to announce our remarkable performance at the Open Welsh Taekwon-Do Championship in Cardiff. Caitlin Kelly accomplished great success, winning a silver medal in “Pattern Senior 18 Years + Female White-Green” and a silver medal in “Merge Sparring Senior 18 Years + Female White-Yellow 70 Kg +”. Meanwhile, Van Nguyen secured a bronze medal in “Special Techniques Youth Up To 8 Years Female All Grades +120-130 cm” and another bronze medal in “Sparring Youth Up To 8 Years Female White +120-130 cm”. In total, our athletes won 4 medals, an outstanding achievement considering there were only 2 participants.

Grandmasters Seminar & ITF England EGM

Date: Sunday 9th June 2024

Location: The Royal Masonic School for Girls, Rickmansworth

Today, ITF England successfully hosted a seminar led by Grand Master Ellis and Grand Master Nardizzi, with the participation of almost 100 black belts.

Following the seminar, an EGM (Emergency General Meeting) took place to elect the remaining seats for the ITFE board of directors.

European Taekwon-Do ITF Championship 2024

Celebrating Success at the European Taekwon-Do ITF Championship

I am thrilled to share that I had the honour of participating as one of the ITF England National Team Coaches to the recent European Taekwon-Do ITF Championship. The dedication and hard work of our National Team competitors shone through as they secured an outstanding medal tally. With a total of 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 3 bronze medals, England proudly claimed the 10th place overall in the league table.
